1358 October 19, 2026 Welcome To Jekyll Island
I had some things to mail this morning and the office was not open when I began my walk. I decided to walk to the post office. My route began on the main thoroughfare and along the water.

From there, I wound my way through the residential areas, through the park, past the lighthouse and back to the RV. When I arrived, Tim was wrapping things up in preparation for another travel day. We were on our way soon after. We had only 112 miles to go. We stopped in Brunswick, Georgia for supplies. We arrived at Jekyll Island Campground around lunchtime.

After resting, we hopped on our bikes. I love this place! There is a great bike trail the loops around the entire island.

We first took the road to Clam Creek and walked out onto the pier. We saw a ship coming and we stayed to watch it navigate the waterway.

We biked some more on Riverview Drive. We stopped when Tim spotted a bunch of wading birds perched in a tree. There were lots of ibises and there was a pair of pink spoonbills. Tim took a few pictures and then we cycled on. We saw a path through the trees that enabled us to get a better view of the birds. I was wishing that I had my spiffy camera to zoom in but alas I did not! Maybe I will try to go back tomorrow and see if the birds choose the same tree.

We packed quinoa bowls in our cooler and went back to the water’s edge for our picnic dinner.

After eating, we rode around the island. We saw several deer and a raccoon.
We got out and walked in the Beach Village but most of the shops were shuttered for the night.

The sun was just setting and we went back to Clam Creek to watch.
