Enjoying Jekyll

The morning was sunny and breezy and cool.  It was perfect for a long walk.  I started on the paved road to Clam Creek.  From there, I walked on a sandy path parallel to the shore.

I ended up walking back along the main road on the bike path.  A nice three-mile loop and I felt great!

We packed lunch and took our bikes to the other end of the island.  We found beach access on a wheelchair ramp and took our bikes to ride on the beach.  The winds were 17mph with 20mph gusts.  We elected to ride into the wind first.  It was hard but not impossible.

I saw this sand dollar and had to stop to take a picture.  I tried to collect it but it shattered.

We biked about a mile on the hard packed sand and then turned around.  Woohoo!!  It was bunches of fun biking back with the wind pushing us along.  Biking today was like sledding…you have to trudge up the hill pulling the sled and then when you get to the top you get to coast down!!

We found a picnic pavilion and we sat with our faces in the sunshine enjoying our lunch.

We rested and read and then packed dinner.  We went to the Riverview Park.

After eating we took a walk and then finally sat down to watch the sun go down.
