1372 November 2, 2026 Move To Midway And Miami
Another great walk around Monument Lake. I had spoonbills soaring above me as I went.
We moved again today. This time, we had just a short 7-mile drive down 41. Monument Lake is beautiful. We love the peace and quiet there and at night it is so dark. But there are no hookups there. We made the move to Midway so that we could have electric. This is also a National Park Campground and with our Lifetime Senior Pass it is less than 20.00 a night.
It was nice on this 82-degree day to be able to turn on the AC!
We made a trip to the very fringes of Miami this afternoon. We needed some groceries and Tim found a Planet Fitness 38 miles away. It amazed us that we could go so quickly from Everglades to densely built homes and large shopping areas. We passed three Publix grocery stores in about 5 miles.
Tim did his workout while I went to Publix, got fresh water, got some cash, and got gas in the Jeep. He was finished just minutes after I arrived in the parking lot to fetch him.
It was about an hour drive back to the campground. We were about 10 miles from “home” when the drenching rain began.
When we got back we found this note from a ranger on our picnic table. We had got the grill out when we set up. We knew that we would need it for dinner.

It rained for three hours.
It stopped shortly before I went out to cook.
The sun was peeking through the clouds and we saw some pretty color.

After we ate, Tim put the grill in the basement. We don’t really want any unwanted visitors tonight!
