August 9, 2018 Too Much Driving!

Moose Creek Campground Klondike Highway Yukon, Canada

Mileage:  46,924

We got a late start this morning after refueling and taking the giant baby to the RV wash.

We decided to forego the Dempster Highway.  As much as it would be great fun to take every road to the end…it is too much!  The Dempster is a gravel road and not meant for RV travel with a bigger rig.  The highway extends for 400 miles to the Arctic Ocean.  It takes at least 10-14 hours to drive it without stops.  It sealed the deal when we got there and a sign at the entrance said mud slide KM 244.  We just aren’t set up to take this side trip.

Klondike Highway road conditions were less than ideal and we made very tedious and slow progress.  The Moose Creek Campground is quiet and a peaceful place to rest.

Grouse in the campground.

A nice fire, some afternoon brie and wine, and a good grilled chicken dinner…perfect for today!
